Go With the River
Independent
Peter Uhlenbruch’s music is easily recognizable by its folky mellow vocals with plenty of acoustic instrumentals. His new album “Go with the river” is a perfect representation of his style and each track offers another layer with guest appearances from a number of artists.
Recorded in a small beach hut in the Victorian town of Inverloch, the album sounds like spending time on a windswept beach, if you can imagine yourself sitting in long grass on a cold day chilling with an acoustic guitar. But don’t start thinking this is going to be a faux Jack Johnson, Uhlenbruch leans towards more of a Bon Iver style by creating an album you can put on and lose yourself in.
The album is kicked off by an instrumental with heaps of guitar plucking. Very neat stuff that really gives you a feel of where the album is going. The album evolves from this opening track, adding layers of instrumental and Uhlenbruch’s creative yet simple lyrics. Available for a listen on Owl of the Swamp’s Myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/owlsoftheswamp), “go with the river” is an album you shouldn’t miss this winter.
