The holiday lingered
jetlag hit without warning
so we snoozed
late in the afternoon.

Sometime later
during daylight hours
(evening or morning?)
I awoke
to navigate
our familiar bedroom
and look out the window
just to remind myself
I was finally back home
somehow, though
I pulled back the curtain
and saw a busy european street
full of people and traffic.

“I know I’m home now,”
I thought to myself
so I shut the curtain
and returned to dreamland
knowing I’d wake up in Preston
if I concentrated a little harder.
